Basic Web Definitions

Domain Name - A domain name locates an organization or other entity on the Internet. For example, the domain name www.Jaymunda.com locates an Internet address for "jaymunda.com" at a particular host server named "www". The "com" part of the domain name reflects the purpose of the organization or entity (in this example, "commercial") and is called the top-level domain name.

Hosting - Hosting (also known as Web site hosting, Web hosting, and Webhosting) is the business of housing, serving, and maintaining files for one or more websites. SEO - Stands for Search engine optimization . It is the practice of manipulating aspects of a Web site to improve its ranking in search engines. Various approaches are taken to achieve that goal, such as submitting the Web site to directory services, and addressing Web site architecture and content.

Search Engine - On the Internet, a search engine is a coordinated set of programs that includes: 

• A spider (also called a "crawler" or a "bot") that goes to every page or representative pages on every Web site that wants to be searchable and reads it, using hypertext links on each page to discover and read a site's other pages.
• A program that creates a huge index (sometimes called a "catalog") from the pages that have been read.
• A program that receives your search request, compares it to the entries in the index, and returns results to you.
